One year ago, this happened in my living room.
How have we gone from this:
in just one short, too-fast year? She’s so little to me, how can she be a year old?
We had a little family party for her over at my mum and dad’s house yesterday. I made the traditional carrot cake and painstakingly iced little stars all over it. She promptly licked all the icing off her piece in about 2.3 seconds.
She is the loveliest girl. So happy, so content, so gentle. She is my wise one, this girl. She loves so deeply. She is in on our jokes, makes little kissy-noises to beg for kisses. She worships Anne and Joe, took her first steps this week, and has never, not once, slept through the night. (I don’t mind….much….)
(The song we chose for Evelynn’s video was suggested by Ashley on my Facebook page. It’s called “I Get To Be The One” by JJ Heller. Loooooved it. Also, RSS subscribers, you may need to click through to watch the video. It’s totally worth it.)
So thankful for Evelynn’s first trip around the sun. She is our radiant life, everything good and beautiful.
