  • Today was a milestone. She was just four and a half when I wrote the first few words of this book. Now she's in grade 7 and she asked to read those words for the first time. All of a sudden, I realised I wrote it for her, too. For her and for all my tinies and for the generation coming up after us. Just imagine starting life with that message of love and goodness, shalom and equality ringing in your soul like a clear bell. (Also: I'm super nervous to hear what she thinks. Real talk.😬)

The link for more info or to register is in my profile - early bird pricing until April 1 https://www.watertowinegathering.com/
  • Long before any bookstore carried my books, back when I was blogging ferociously and had zero idea anybody was reading it, a publisher emailed me and asked for a book proposal. So I did the reasonable thing: I panicked quietly for a day or two. I had no idea what to do. Then I called in the only friend I knew who had written a real book @rachelheldevans. She had many wonderful wise things to say but the most important thing she did for me was this: she said "you don't have to do this alone." And she put me in touch with her own literary agent, Rachelle Gardner @agent_rachelle

Rachelle called me that week and from that very first conversation I knew that I was in good hands. I never even spoke to another agent, I signed with her immediately. She was a kindred spirit and she was a total business boss: my perfect combo.

And then the adventure really began.
I cannot imagine navigating the experience of first-time publishing let alone my life now as a working writer without her in my life.
Not everyone gets to have a Rachelle as they become an author. But good news, aspiring authors: she has put together an Author School for you.
If you have found yourself wanting to move from pen to published, then this is the investment in your writing that I would recommend, hand's down.

The course is PACKED. You get your money's worth. You'll learn how to get started as a writing, how to get rid of excuses and get down to business, how to self-edit, how to discern your path for publishing, crafting a book proposal, develop a platform, and so much more.

But one of the differentiators for Rachelle's course here is what I have experienced as one of her clients: she cares for the soul of the writer so well. It's not just about "get it done" at the expense of your soul - you'll learn how to care for your soul as a writer so you don't lose yourself in the roller coaster business of publishing and writing.
Here's the link: https://authorschool.com/love/sarahbessey/ and the link is in my profile, too.

P.S. Enrollment closes on February 26th.
  • Happy book release day to my pal, @peteenns for his brilliant new offering "How the Bible Actually Works: In Which I Explain How An Ancient, Ambiguous, and Diverse Book Leads Us to Wisdom Rather Than Answers—and Why That’s Great News." 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I was so honoured to endorse his book. Pete is brilliant, wise, sarcastic (those footnotes!), and disarmingly profound. You won't believe how much you'll enjoy having your sacred opinions and ideas about the bible all blown to bits in these pages. That's because Pete is an expert at reconstructing our reading of the bible so that we not only hear the good news but begin to participate in it, too. He is a good, trustworthy guide for those of us who have needed to reimagine the bible in order to once again love the bible and I'm so happy to recommend this to you. Available everywhere now but I threw an Amazon link in my profile for you to make it easy. 💛
